Singing Valentines A Sweet Success!

Jacksonville, FL - March 6, 2017


Love was in the air February 14, and music was the wings it flew in on. If you found yourself serenaded this past Valentines Day, chances are your loved one ordered one of Jax Harmony's traveling quartets to come and sing sweet love songs to you. Jacksonville Harmony held its annual Singing Valentine campaign February 13 and 14 with three quartets traveling the entire city for two days, delivering love to all kinds of unsuspecting recipients.

The Lehigh Valley has been the scene for many world premieres regarding orchestral music. Here's one especially for families that incorporates not only musicians but puppeteers to act out a childhood favorite. It's the world premiere adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Nightingale," a collaborative project involving The Bach Choir of Bethlehem and Bach Festival Orchestra, directed by Greg Funfgeld, and the Mock Turtle Marionette Theater, directed by Doug Roysdon. The concert will be performed Sunday at 3 p.m., at Baker Hall, Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University, Bethlehem



Gonzales woman voted into Sweet Adelines Wall of Fame

Baton Rouge, LA - February 22, 2017


Donna Robinson, of Gonzales, recently was voted by members of the Crescent City Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines International to join the Sweet Adelines Wall of Fame. Those chosen for the honor have distinguished themselves as dedicated participants in Sweet Adelines. Robinson sings as a baritone and commutes to New Orleans every Monday for rehearsal. She co-chairs the Total Look committee, serves as competition coordinator and is a Rah Rah of the Crescent City Sound Chorus’s special entertainment committee.



Treats for vets Music, cards, games mark special week

The men tapped their feet in time and some even sang along as members of the Sweet Adelines entertained with classic tunes. “I like that kind of music,” veteran Justice Crum said. “Me, too,” veteran Michael David Siethenhal chimed in. The short musical performance was one of many activities going on this week at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System as part of the 71st National Salute to Veteran Patients.
